We want to spread awareness of these cancers and ensure more clinicians, researchers, patients and public are informed, empowered, and supported. Collaboration and working together is key to improving patient outcomes and, furthering treatment options.

Salivary Gland Cancer Day – 4th October

Salivary Gland Cancer Day is about building connections, sharing knowledge, and supporting each other to make a real difference.
Raising awareness starts with sharing the right information. Our Shareable Resources Hub is packed with materials you can download and use to help you spread the word about salivary gland cancer.
It can be a very lonely experience to be diagnosed with a salivary gland cancer and we want to do everything we can to help patients feel less alone.
So, we have developed one post in 23 languages.

As a reminder – a bit about Salivary Gland Cancers:
Salivary Gland Cancers are rare, poorly understood and have limited treatment options. They can present as primaries in the head and neck, trachea, breast, lacrimal gland, skin and vulva. They affect the salivary glands (in the mouth) and the secretory glands in other parts of the body (trachea, breast, vulva, skin, lacrimal gland).
There are over 20 types of rare salivary gland cancer, but they represent only 0.3% of cancers globally. There is no risk profile, patients are often asymptomatic or ‘out of context’ so missed as being cancer. Diagnoses are late, prognoses are poor. There is a lack of drug therapies, and the biologies of these cancers is poorly understood. They are rare and so research is decades behind other common cancers.
